FUN FORD WEEKEND KICKS OFF WITH CRUISE FROM SAM PACK’S PRIVATE CAR COLLECTION WAREHOUSE IN CARROLLTON
Fun Ford Weekend Returns to Texas Motorplex Oct. 8

ENNIS, Texas (Sept. 26, 2011) – Get ready to celebrate the Blue Oval – Fun Ford Weekend is back at Texas Motorplex!

Fun Ford Weekend, presented by JE Pistons and RoushYates, will make its long-awaited return to Texas Motorplex, Oct. 8 and there isn’t a better way to kick off the celebration than by cruising to the track.

Sam Pack’s Automotive Warehouse in Carrollton will be the starting point for a cruise to Texas Motorplex on Saturday, Oct. 8. There will be plenty of Fords, coffee, donuts and an exciting chance to go through Sam Pack’s private collection of vintage vehicles at his warehouse which is not open to the public.

“The warehouse is a great place to start the cruise,” Brian Huth, manager of Sam Pack’s Five Star Ford Ltd., said. “Mr. Pack has a unique collection of cars from all eras inside this warehouse, so it’s a rare opportunity to get a peek behind the curtain, so to speak, at his private car collection.”

The cruise will leave the warehouse at 8:30 a.m. for the 50-minute cruise to Texas Motorplex. All participants who pre-register will receive a car flag that will allow them VIP entrance into the Motorplex through a private gate.

Texas Motorplex was the first all-concrete stadium-style drag racing facility ever constructed. Built in 1986, Texas Motorplex has been the place of many drag racing milestones and world record performances. The Billy Meyer-owned facility hosts a number of racing and car show events between March and November each year and also features the Champion’s Club – an 11,000 square-foot facility – that serves fully catered events throughout the year.

True Street Rules – Texas Motorplex Fun Ford Weekend, Oct. 8, 2011

All vehicles must be a FFW approved vehicle and conform to these guidelines

Engine
Block: Any modifications permitted. Must be Ford based configuration
Cylinder heads: Any modification accepted, No restrictions
Induction: No restrictions, Any configuration. Carburetion (multiple), fuel injection, Nitrous oxide (multiple stages), Single or dual Turbos, Superchargers, Multiple power adders allowed
Exhaust: closed exhaust system required. Must exit from outlet of mufflers. Must aim towards rear of vehicle. Tailpipes not required, turndowns are permitted.
Fuel system: fuel cell permitted, any style fuel pump (mechanical or electric) permitted, any octane or form
Cooling: Radiator required. mechanical or electric fans and water pumps permitted, no external cooling devices allowed

Drive Train
Rear end: Any configuration permitted
Transmission: Any type or speeds, Manual or automatic permitted, any shifter type permitted
Clutch: any form or configuration permitted. Must be operated by drivers foot

Suspension
Front: Any style permitted, including bolt on tubular k members, front clips, coil over struts and shocks.
Rear: Any style permitted, including tubs or min tubs, wheelie bars prohibited

Body& Chassis
Roll Cage: Any style permitted.
Body: Any stock production body required. Fiberglass or composite body panels accepted. Must have hood, hood scoops accepted, Any rear wing configuration accepted. Oem safety glass required and must be functional. Non -approved alterations to gain advantage prohibited, must maintain original height, width, length and shape.
Frame: Must have stock style frame rails, Full tube Chassis prohibited.
Weight: No minimum or maximum limit

Wheels and Tires
Wheels: Any Size and material, spindle mount prohibited
Tires: Any size DOT slick, DOT radial, DOT legal tire required for all wheels. Racing slicks prohibited.

Street Equipment
All vehicles must have working Headlights, tail lights, Brake lights, turn Signals, horn, wipers, must have valid state inspection sticker (if required), Valid driver’s license, valid registration and insurance ID, No dealer plates, No copies or faxes accepted. Original documents only!

Road Cruise
All vehicles after passing True Street Tech will proceed to the designated 30 mile road cruise. Escort will be supervising the cruise in accordance with local laws and officials. Burnouts and other illegal acts before during the cruise are prohibited and subject to disqualification. Support vehicles are allowed on cruise but will be behind entire group of True Street participants. Any Vehicle not able to complete the road cruise under its own power will be disqualified along with driver. After completion of the road cruise all vehicles will be impounded in a designated area in the pits for True Street participants only. Opening of the hood is prohibited once the road cruise begins and three (3) rounds of completion have been completed. If the hood is opened during that time, the vehicle and driver will be disqualified. Opening of the trunk or rear hatch is allowed prior to the first round of completion (i.e. hooking up or turning on nitrous bottle). Changing or installing nitrous is prohibited once racing commences, external cooling of an engine or transmission is not allowed, no external fans, ice or pressurized fluids may be used, radiator mounted electric cooling fan is allowed, no battery chargers may be connected after the beginning of the road cruise, if the battery is unable to start your vehicle during racing, both the vehicle and driver will be disqualified, no repairs are to be performed from underneath of any form. Any attempt to perform repairs will be grounds for disqualification. Air pressure may be checked in tires but air may only be removed. No inflation of tires is permitted after the road cruise commences. No Chassis adjustments are allowed after the road cruise begins. Refueling or adding fuel is prohibited after road cruise begins.

Race Procedure
Hoods, Trunk, Hatches are not to be opened for any reason during the three (3) competition passes. Hatchbacks may reach through passenger compartment to access rear area only to open nitrous bottles., Tire pressures may be checked, air may only be removed, no inflation of tires is permitted, vehicles must return from each competition pass under its own power, NO tow vehicles allowed. NO chassis adjustments are allowed during competition. If you experience any problem (mechanical or otherwise) and cannot make a pass, if you oil down or crash on the track surface, you jeopardize yourself or others, notify a FFW official of your withdrawal from competition. Only driver will be permitted in vehicle during the three passes. All crew members will be permitted in designated areas only, all cars and drivers must make all three (3) passes, if vehicle will not start under its own power car and driver will be disqualified, no push starts of vehicle. Participants must make all three (3) passes together as a group. After the three (3) passes are complete, ET’s will be added up, and then divided by Three (3) establishing an average used to place the drivers. The three (3) run average will be used to determine the runner-up, winner, and index winner

Winner: Quickest average E.T. of three (3) runs
Runner-up: 2nd Quickest average E.T. of three (3) runs
10 sec. index: Closest average time to 10.0 sec.
11 sec. index: Closest average time to 11.0 sec.
12 sec. index: Closest average time to 12.0 sec.
13 sec. index: Closest average time to 13.0 sec.

All results from FFW staff are final; averages will be posted the day of the race at the FFW show tent. All vehicles must pass track and or NHRA technical inspection and must be legal for the elapsed times, and speed they run. Drivers must have proper licensing (i.e. Cars running 9 sec. driver needs 9 sec license). It is up to the track and officials to enforce all safety rules and regulations. Any questions or concerns must be presented to a FFW official prior to race completion.

Fun Ford Weekend at Memphis International Raceway – October 15

MILLINGTON, TN – September 23, 2011 – Magnificent Mustangs, modern, modified and memorable make their way to Memphis International Raceway (MIR) during the final tour city of the 2011 Fun Ford Weekend presented by Roush Yates and JE Pistons on Saturday, October 15.

The Fun Ford Weekend series polishes the Blue Oval in 2011 with a five city tour of drag races, car shows and swap meets. The national touring series draws Ford fans from all over the country to the host tracks. Sister track Palm Beach International Raceway hosted Fun Ford Weekend in September and was the best event on the tour to date.

Although Memphis is the final stop of the 2011 tour, Fun Ford Weekend celebration does have a first to celebrate – the first official major event at the recently opened Memphis International Raceway.

During this unique one-day show, Ford devotees can explore the grounds and experience elements of the Michigan-based automotive giant. For the racing fan, the drag strip will showcase numerous categories including Quick Ford (Electronic), Fast Ford (Non-Electronic), True Street (DOT), Four-Door Frenzy, Tough Trucks, Mustang Madness and Compact. The one-day show will also feature special exhibition runs from David Douthit, driver of the powerful Ford Focus Wagon ‘Focus This’ Jet Car, eighth-mile Pro Mod drivers Jerry Prater and Dwayne Watkins; as well as quarter-mile exhibition runs from local favorite Tony ‘Sandman’ Williams and Gary Sullivan.

“We’re very excited to be hosting Fun Ford Weekend in Memphis,” said Pam Kendrick, Vice President and GM, Memphis International Raceway. “We’ve assembled a knowledgeable race crew at MIR and this marks our first official event since the drag strip opened in August. There have been successful Ford events at MIR in the past, but we’re looking to make this Ford event the start of the new era at Memphis International Raceway by offering a great show for the fans and racers.”

Classic, custom and modern Fords representing all years will participate in the car show. More than 30 awards categories have been created for the car show. Entry into the car show is $30 at the gate or $25 if purchased in advance at the MIR Executive Offices. MIR offers a discount to car and truck clubs during Fun Ford Weekend. Clubs of 10 or more that register in advance save $15 on each car show entry; must register as a group and pay in advance.

Fun Ford Weekend would not be complete unless there was a swap meet. Racers and auto enthusiasts searching for that hard-to-find part for their custom car might find what they’re looking for during the Swap Meet at MIR’s Fun Ford Weekend. Swap meet spaces (10×10) are available for $20 each. All swap meet entry fees include the participant entry.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Sept. 7, 2011) – Beginning with the next Fun Ford Weekend event at Virginia Motorsports Park, September 10, Wiley X and Roush Yates will be giving away free sunglasses to lucky winners of three different bracket race classes. The Wiley X Fun Ford Weekend sunglasses promotion is courtesy of Wiley X and Roush Yates Performance Products.

These sunglasses, valued at $140, will be given to winners and runners up for Fast Ford, Quick Ford and DOT Street Ford bracket races at the four remaining events for 2011:

3. Any style cylinder head is allowed.

6. No minimum race weight is required.

12. Car must complete the road cruise of 20 miles, and three rounds of eliminations on one tank of fuel. No refueling will be permitted after the road cruise begins.

2. Valid, current insurance and registration cards for any vehicle entered in competition, which must be presented (with driver’s license at the request of the tech inspector. License plate(s) are mandatory; no dealer plates or registrations. Faxes or letters from insurance companies are not permitted–actual paperwork must be presented when requested.

3. All operational, DOT-mandated safety equipment for the particular model year must be operational, including (but not limited to headlights, taillights, turn signals, horn and brake lights; cars will be checked for proper operation of equipment.

4. A Drag Race entry purchased at the gate.

5. A tech card for track tech. Track tech may follow True Street tech, but will be performed regardless.

6. A pen to fill in the tech card legibly. All information that will be posted after the race, and in the magazine must be legible. We are not responsible for misspelled names, unknown years, and models of cars.
Road Cruise:

1. All vehicles, after passing True Street tech, will proceed to the next segment, the designated road cruise.

2. Escorts will be provided. All participants must obey local and federal traffic laws, including passing, merging and speed limits. Burnouts or other illegal acts before or during the road cruise are prohibited. Violators will be subject to disqualification.

3. All support vehicles (i.e., tow vehicles or any other vehicle that will not be actually racing) are allowed to go on the road cruise, provided they are behind the entire group of True Street participants.

4. Any car unable to complete the road cruise under its own power will be disqualified, along with the driver.

5. After completion of the road cruise, all cars are to go back to designated area for True Street participants which is the Return Road in front of the main grandstands.

6. Opening of the hood is prohibited once the road cruise begins until three rounds of drag strip competition have been completed. If the hood is opened during this time, the car and driver will be disqualified.

7. Opening the trunk or hatch of the car is allowed prior to the first round of competition (i.e., hooking up nitrous bottles. ) Changing nitrous bottles is not permitted once the racing commences.

8. No external cooling of the engine is allowed. No external fans, ice or pressurized fluids may be used. Use of a radiator-mounted primary electric cooling fan is permitted. No battery charger may be connected to the battery after the road cruise. Excessive use of your electric fan may drain your battery. If the battery is unable to start your car during racing, both car and driver will be disqualified.

9. No repairs are to be made from underneath the engine compartment. Any attempts to repair items from underneath will be grounds for disqualification.

Race Procedure:

1. Hoods and deck lids are not to be opened for any reason during the three passes. Hatchback owners may reach through the passenger compartment to access the hatch area only to open nitrous bottles.

2. Tire pressure may be checked, but air can only be removed. No inflation of tires is permitted during the race; therefore, no inflation equipment will be permitted in the car.

3. If you experience any problems (mechanical or otherwise,) and cannot make a pass, do not make it. If you oil down or crash on the track surface, you jeopardize yourself and others. Promptly inform a track official of your withdrawal from the class.

4. Only drivers will be permitted to be with the car during the three passes. All pit members may stand only in the grandstand area or burnout area.

5. If a car is unable to start under its own power, both the driver and car will be disqualified. No push starts will be allowed.

6. All cars and racers must make three runs ¼ Mile, .400 Pro Tree.

7. After the three passes are made, E.T.’s will be added up, and then divided by three, establishing an average used to place the drivers. The three run average will be used to determine the winner, runner-up and index winners.

10 second index – closest average time to 10.0 seconds
11 second index – closest average time to 11.0 seconds
12 second index – closest average time to 12.0 seconds
13 second index – closest average time to 13.0 seconds

8. All results and decisions from the Fun Ford staff are final. Averages will be posted the day of the race at the Fun Ford car show tent.

All cars must pass track and/or IHRA technical inspection, and must be legal for the elapsed time, and speed they run. Drivers must have proper licensing; i.e., if you have a 9-second car, you must have a 9-second driver’s license. It is up to the track to enforce all safety rules.

Fantastic Fun Ford Weekend at Palm Beach International Raceway on Saturday

JUPITER, FL – September 17, 2011 – Palm Beach International Raceway carried the Blue Oval flag for the inaugural Fun Ford Weekend at the South Florida track. Ford makes and models of all eras were represented on the drag strip, car show and autocross. The inaugural Fun Ford Weekend presented by Roush Yates and JE Pistons brought many Ford fans to PBIR on Saturday afternoon.

Once spectators entered the gates at PBIR, they were greeted by a car show of more than 100 cars. Classics, customs, modern and modified Fords filled the southern portion of PBIR’s road course. Corralled by the SouthFlordiaStangs.net group, judges awarded more than 30 awards to the car show participants. One of the most popular Fords of the day was the 1965 Mustang Fastback owned by Shannon Kelleher, who walked away with the Mustang 64-70, Best of Show and People’s Choice car show awards.

Those looking to try their hand and the ride and handling portion of Fun Ford Weekend participated in the autocross held on the north end of PBIR’s road course. The solo-timed autocross was a favorite of muscle car enthusiasts that wanted to test everything from handling and suspension to tire grip. Frank Perdomo posted the quickest time on the road course with a 73.171-second loop.

“We were very impressed with the racer, car show and spectator turnout for Fun Ford Weekend at PBIR on Saturday,” said Jason Rittenberry, President and CEO of Palm Beach International Raceway. “As another first-time event at PBIR, we welcomed many new fans and racers to the track. We’re looking forward to expanding our Fun Ford Weekend event here in South Florida.”

The highlight of the Fun Ford Weekend celebration at PBIR was the exhibition runs by Animal Jim Feurer in his 1979 Mammoth Mercury and David Douthit, driver of the Ford Focus Jet Car. The packed grandstand had fans on their feet cheering for one of the pioneers of Pro Modified drag racing – Animal Jim Feurer. In an impressive exhibition, David Douthit in his Ford Focus “Focus This” Jet Car powered his way down the drag strip, with a weekend best time of 9.332-second pass at 176.12 miles per hour.

On track activity continues next week at Palm Beach International Raceway. On Sunday, September 18, the SCCA Solo Autocross takes to PBIR’s road course. Then on Tuesday, PBIR hosts the motorless Two Wheel Tuesdays were bicyclers, rollerbladers and runners take to the two-mile road course. Wednesday and Friday nights feature the weekly Quarter-Mile Test and Tune on the drag strip. Full events schedules are available at www.racepbir.com.

JUPITER, FL – August 12, 2011 – Palm Beach International Raceway joins the Blue Oval brigade on Saturday, September 17, for the inaugural Fun Ford Weekend presented by Roush Yates and JE Pistons. Fun Ford Weekend paints PBIR Ford Blue on Saturday, September 17.

The Fun Ford Weekend series polishes the Blue Oval in 2011 with a five city tour of drag races, autocross and car shows. Palm Beach International Raceway serves as the third stop, while sister track Memphis International Raceway will be the fifth and final stop this year. The national touring series draws Ford fans from all over the country to the host tracks.

During this unique one-day show, Ford devotees can explore the grounds and experience elements of the Michigan based automotive giant. For the racing fan, the drag strip will showcase numerous categories including Quick Ford (Electronic), Fast Ford (Non-Electronic), True Street (DOT), Four-Door Frenzy, Tough Trucks, Mustang Madness and Compact. The one-day show will also feature special exhibition runs from the first Ford to reach 200 miles per hour in competition – Jim “Animal” Feurer, driver of the Championship Pro Stock Legendary Mammoth 700 Boss-engined 79 Mercury Zephyr (Zeke) and David Douthit, driver of the powerful Ford Focus Jet Car.

“Fun Ford Weekend is another new event for Palm Beach International Raceway this year and I’m thrilled to be hosting this first-time event at our facility,” said Jason Rittenberry, President and CEO, PBIR. “Fun Ford Weekend is a celebration of Ford and everything with the Blue Oval. We’re looking forward to hosting Ford fans and racers during our September event.”

Classic, custom and modern Fords representing all years will participate in the car show. Held on the south side of PBIR’s road course, more than 30 awards will be given in a variety of car show classes. The car show entry is $30, or $25 if purchased in advance at www.racepbir.com. PBIR offers a discount to car and truck clubs during Fun Ford Weekend. Clubs of 10 or more that register in advance save $15 on each car show entry; must register as a group and paid in advance.

In addition to the racing and car shows, spectators and attendees are invited to the north end of PBIR’s road course to participate in the autocross portion of the event. Available to amateur and competitive participants, the solo-timed competition takes place on turns two through nine of PBIR’s state-of-art road course. The autocross is often a favorite of muscle car enthusiasts that want to test everything from handling and suspension to tire grip. To participate in the autocross event, the cost is $35 per entrant. Autocross tickets can be purchased in advance at www.racepbir.com for a reduced rate of $25.

July 5, 2011 (Pompano Beach, Fla) Annually, one of the biggest events that we host at our Pompano Beach, Florida facilities, this year’s Stampede is set for September 17, 2011 – so tell your friends and mark calendars…the Steeda Stampede is one event you surely do not want to miss!

The Steeda Stampede will feature a multitude of cars on display for everyone to admire and envy, thousands of dollars in give-a-way promotions, as well as a special guided tour by Dario Orlando of our Pompano Beach facilities. ROUSH YATES PRO STOCK ENGINES FOR SALE TO THE PUBLIC
Three 500 cubic inch Ford bullets

(Sept. 12, 2011) – Early on in the 2010 NHRA season, Roush Yates, the longtime and industry-renowned provider of race and championship-winning NASCAR engines pieced together several Pro Sock engines intended for an NHRA leasing program. Now, Roush Yates is selling three of these engines to the public for the first time ever.

Roush Yates has continuously recognized needs outside of circle track racing and therefore broadened their business to include the entire performance industry. Roush Yates provides new racing products to several top name racing outfits on down to the Saturday night racer.

Roush Yates’ famous Blue Ovals are extremely competitive in the race market. All three 500 cubic inch Ford bullets for sale are dyno-tested and produce over 1,400 horsepower. These engines are early products of the new Roush Yates Pro Stock program.

A Roush Yates Engines Ford bullet runs around $125,000. Roush Yates currently has three of these products for sale at $100,000 each.

“These Pro Stock Engines are the culmination of almost two years of research, development, and track testing from some of the best people in the engine industry. This engine package would be perfect for NHRA Pro Stock, Competition Eliminator, or possibly Top Sportsman and Top Dragster. The quality and engineering behind such engines has rarely been available to the general public, but can now be purchased by anyone who cares to race at this level.”

The company recently expanded its retail store which is completely available to the public. The 40,000 square foot store is located in Mooresville, N.C., among a variety of Roush Yates engine and product development centers.

Fun Ford Weekend at Palm Beach International Raceway – September 17

JUPITER, FL – August 12, 2011 – Palm Beach International Raceway joins the Blue Oval brigade on Saturday, September 17, for the inaugural Fun Ford Weekend presented by Roush Yates and JE Pistons. Fun Ford Weekend paints PBIR Ford Blue on Saturday, September 17.

The Fun Ford Weekend series polishes the Blue Oval in 2011 with a five city tour of drag races, autocross and car shows. Palm Beach International Raceway serves as the third stop, while sister track Memphis International Raceway will be the fifth and final stop this year. The national touring series draws Ford fans from all over the country to the host tracks.

During this unique one-day show, Ford devotees can explore the grounds and experience elements of the Michigan based automotive giant. For the racing fan, the drag strip will showcase numerous categories including Quick Ford (Electronic), Fast Ford (Non-Electronic), True Street (DOT), Four-Door Frenzy, Tough Trucks, Mustang Madness and Compact. The one-day show will also feature special exhibition runs from the first Ford to reach 200 miles per hour in competition – Jim “Animal” Feurer, driver of the Championship Pro Stock Legendary Mammoth 700 Boss-engined 79 Mercury Zephyr (Zeke) and David Douthit, driver of the powerful Ford Focus Jet Car.

“Fun Ford Weekend is another new event for Palm Beach International Raceway this year and I’m thrilled to be hosting this first-time event at our facility,” said Jason Rittenberry, President and CEO, PBIR. “Fun Ford Weekend is a celebration of Ford and everything with the Blue Oval. We’re looking forward to hosting Ford fans and racers during our September event.”

Classic, custom and modern Fords representing all years will participate in the car show. Held on the south side of PBIR’s road course, more than 30 awards will be given in a variety of car show classes. The car show entry is $30, or $25 if purchased in advance at www.racepbir.com. PBIR offers a discount to car and truck clubs during Fun Ford Weekend. Clubs of 10 or more that register in advance save $15 on each car show entry; must register as a group and paid in advance.

In addition to the racing and car shows, spectators and attendees are invited to the north end of PBIR’s road course to participate in the autocross portion of the event. Available to amateur and competitive participants, the solo-timed competition takes place on turns two through nine of PBIR’s state-of-art road course. The autocross is often a favorite of muscle car enthusiasts that want to test everything from handling and suspension to tire grip. To participate in the autocross event, the cost is $35 per entrant. Autocross tickets can be purchased in advance at www.racepbir.com for a reduced rate of $25.

Fun Ford Weekend would not be complete unless there was a swap meet. Racers and auto enthusiasts searching for that hard-to-find part for their custom car might find what they’re looking for during the Swap Meet at PBIR’s Fun Ford Weekend. Swap meet spaces (10×10) are available for $20. All swap meet entry fees include the participant entry.

Winners for Second Stop Along 2011 Fun Ford Weekend Series Tour at VMP

PETERSBURG, Va. (Sept. 11, 2011) – The Fun Ford Weekend series presented by JE Pistons and Roush Yates proved its success once again this past weekend as Virginia Motorsports Park hosted a very eventful one-day show.

VMP packed Saturday full of show cars, drag racing, midway displays, exhibitions, and new Ford vehicle displays.

This event is only the second of five Fun Ford Weekend shows presented by JE Pistons and Roush Yates in 2011. The first event was held at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, CO., June 26. Both of these events proved fan excitement for the famous blue ovals and kicked the 2011 tour off with plenty of Ford-based involvement from participants, fans and sponsors.

Fun Ford Weekend The series plans to expand to more events in 2012.
