FAST FRIDAY AND FUN FORD WEEKEND CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER

Import Face Off Will Run Sunday as Motorplex Season Finale

ENNIS, Texas (Nov. 6, 2015) – Weather concerns have forced Texas Motorplex officials to cancel tonight’s Fast Friday event as well as Fun Ford Weekend on Saturday.

The 2015 Texas Motorplex season will conclude with Sunday’s Import Face Off – a celebration of all things Import as well as a test-n-tune for any domestic vehicles.

Gates will open at 8 a.m. with racer and car show registration open at 9 a.m. until noon. Car show judging starts at 11 a.m. Heads up qualifying will be at 10 a.m. and noon. Final eliminations start at 1 p.m. and awards ceremony will start at 5:30 p.m.

Racing and the car show are just two of many events going on during the one-day Import showcase. The Sound Off contest will award Usaci double points for the Stereo Crank It Up contest. Low riders, trucks and sport bikes have their own events and there will be vendors, a midway, live DJ, a burnout contest (time permitting) and much more.

Tickets and registration will be available at the gate the day of the event. Class and event information is available on www.importfaceoff.net along with the flyer that will serve as a $3 discount on spectator admission.

Texas Motorplex was the first all-concrete stadium-style drag racing facility ever constructed. Built in 1986, Texas Motorplex has been the place of many drag racing milestones and world record performances. The Billy Meyer-owned facility hosts a number of racing and car show events between March and November each year and also features the Champion’s Club – an 11,000 square-foot facility – that serves fully catered events throughout the year.

Aeromotive Introduces a New Universal Fuel System for High Performance and Muscle Cars

Comments Off on Aeromotive Introduces a New Universal Fuel System for High Performance and Muscle Cars

If you’re doing a late-model engine swap, chances are that you’re going to need to upgrade your vehicle’s fuel system. Block mount pumps aren’t an option on today’s engines. Fuel pumps designed to feed carbureted engines simply won’t work with an electronic fuel injection (EFI) system and the tanks in these cars are not designed for EFI pumps. What do you do? Go to a fuel cell… Weld in a big sump on your tank… fabricate a custom tank?

While all of these are options will work, they can be very expensive, require a lot of custom fabrication and may not be what you want. This is precisely why Aeromotive has developed a completely new and patent-pending approach to adding a fuel pump and pickup system into any gas tank that has at least has 6-inches of minimum clearance. The kit includes everything, including internal baffling foam, pre-pump filter, pump, templates, etc. that you will need to install this kit at home.

Aeromotive’s Phantom Fuel System
The Phantom Fuel System is a complete kit that gives you everything you need to install a fuel pump and baffle / basket into almost ANY fuel tank. It’s like putting the fuel system from a new Corvette into your muscle car or street rod. You get an in-tank, 340 Stealth Fuel Pump capable of handling serious horsepower, even at EFI pressures, a black anodized hanger assembly and an internal baffle to control fuel slosh and keep the fuel pump submerged. The best part, this entire system is modular. It can be cut to height to fit almost any gas tank, including your stock tank.

Leave it to the horsepower happy team at Aeromotive to develop a true, drop in EFI-style fuel pump that is designed to work in literally ANY standard gas tank. The Phantom Fuel System now makes it possible to add a reliable, high-pressure fuel system to your vehicle’s standard gas tank.

The Aeromotive Phantom Fuel System has a suggested list price of $549, making it a logical and affordable fuel system solution for a wide range of street and street car-based race cars.

To learn more about the all-new Aeromotive Phantom Fuel System, visit their website here and be sure to check out the installation video below.

Phantom Fuel System PN 18688 and 18689 includes the following components:

• 340 Stealth Fuel Pump
• Supports up to:
• 700 HP EFI Supercharged
• 1000 HP Carbureted Supercharged
• Black anodized hanger assembly
• (3) ORB-06 Ports – Supply, Return, Vent
• Fuel resistant baffle / basket (Includes: Foam and Bladder)
• Universal high flow pre-pump filter
• Modular design can be cut to height to fit almost any fuel tank
• EFI or Carbureted
• Turbine pump mechanism increases durability.
• Must be used with a return style system
• In-tank use only

Drop-in Fuel Pump Upgrade for 2011+ 5.0L Mustangs
And for you late-model Mustang lovers, Aeromotive has rounded out their S197 Mustang chassis fuel system product with the introduction of their 2011+ Mustang drop in kit. This direct bolt-in hat and fuel pump assembly can support up to 1700 hp when paired with a Eliminator pump.

Ford and Ford Racing Rocks 2012 SEMA Show

Once again, our friends at Ford and Ford Racing celebrated the Blue Oval in high-performance style at the 2012 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, NV. From the incredible cars and trucks on display in their own massive booth, to the non-stop action of the “Ford Out Front” demonstration area and of course, to the countless Ford vehicles scattered about the show, it was pretty to easy to see how Ford Motor Company and Ford Racing continue to lead the way in the performance automotive aftermarket.

Visit the Fun Ford Weekend Facebook page to see an entire album of photos from the 2012 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

Ford Mustang and F-Series named “Hottest Car and Truck of the 2012 SEMA Show”
Ford Mustang and F-Series pickups are officially the “Hottest Car and Truck” at the 2012 SEMA show in Las Vegas. Presented on Opening Day, the SEMA Award recognizes the most popular vehicles the organization’s members feature in their displays during the week-long trade show.

Before this year’s show opened, SEMA officials walked the floor of the giant aftermarket expo and counted the number of new 2012 and 2013 cars and trucks exhibited in booths. More Ford Mustangs and F-Series pickups are on display than any other car or truck – testament to the popularity and appeal of Ford vehicles.

“We’re pleased and proud SEMA members agree with what our customers have been saying – that Ford Mustang and F-Series are the industry’s hottest car and truck respectively,” said Ken Czubay, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service.

The launch of the new 2013 Mustang in the spring was strong, with Mustang sales this year up 18 percent over last year. Ford F-Series continues its 36-year record as the best-selling pickup in America, on pace to be the best-selling vehicle in America for 31 straight years.

Aftermarket exhibitors aren’t the only ones featuring Ford Mustang and F-Series in their booths. Ford is also featuring more than 10 Mustangs and F-Series trucks, showing off the extreme versatility of these iconic Ford vehicles.

Ford Racing Pulls the Wraps Off a 5.0L Twin Turbo Cobra Jet Mustang Concept
In the perpetual quest to stay ahead of the competition, the team at Ford Racing dug into Ford’s own production car bag of tricks and debuted a turn-key, factory-built turn-key drag racer “concept” with a twin turbocharged engine, essentially adopting the same award-winning technology found on road-going EcoBoost engines to a race car.

Cobra Jet’s Winning heritage
When the original ’68 Mustang Cobra Jet drag racers rolled out of the Mustang factory, they relied on 7.0-liter V8 engines with massive four-barrel carburetors to hustle them down the strip.

“When a new generation of Cobra Jets arrived four decades later, they immediately began winning with a modern, fuel-injected 5.4-liter V8 topped with a belt-driven supercharger,” recalls Jesse Kershaw, Ford drag racing competition manager. “Over the past four years, the Cobra Jet has gone on to become both a fan and competitor favorite, the most successful late-model vehicle in drag racing.”

While superchargers provide instant on-demand power, they can also sap a lot of power especially at high boost levels. The 2.9-liter blower used on the 2013 Cobra Jet uses as much as 100hp to drive the supercharger – that’s power no longer available for acceleration.

Twin Intercooled Turbochargers = No Waiting

Fortunately, every internal combustion engine has a plentiful source of energy that normally goes to waste right out the exhaust pipe. Turbochargers harness the thermal and kinetic energy in the exhaust gases to drive turbines and compressors that force more air into the engine for a big increase in power without most of the parasitic losses of a supercharger.

“Ford has embraced turbocharging technology and a lot of our production engineers are working with  the technology on a daily basis, so we have a lot of knowledge,” says Rob Deneweth, Cobra Jet powertrain development engineer. “So we decided to apply that knowledge to the Mustang Cobra Jet to showcase what our engineers and suppliers know how to do.”

Turbocharger design and release engineer Dave Born joined the Cobra Jet team after working on the 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V6 for the F-150 to help make this concept a reality. “When done right, turbocharging is just as good as or better than supercharging,” Born confirms.

Check out this video of the Twin Turbo Cobra Jet Mustang concept in action.

“To overcome the biggest perceived drawback of turbocharging – the lag – we’ve selected the smallest possible turbos that will give us the airflow we need,” he added. “We’ve also got some other enhancements to help improve the responsiveness; we have very low inertia and very low internal friction.”

Limited-Edition Ford Racing History Artwork Unveiled at SEMA; Sales to Benefit JDRF

A special Sam Bass painting that celebrates Ford’s storied 111-year racing history was also debuted at SEMA. Proceeds from the sales of the limited-edition prints will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, or JDRF. Commissioned for his private collection by Edsel B. Ford II, great-grandson of Henry Ford, the original artwork dramatically portrays some of the greatest moments in Ford Racing history.

There will be only 500 numbered prints created, all hand-signed by Edsel B. Ford II and Sam Bass, and retailing for $449 on http://www.fordimages.com. All proceeds from sales will benefit JDRF.

Results from Memphis International Raceway – Final event of 2012 Fun Ford Weekend Season

Comments Off on Results from Memphis International Raceway – Final event of 2012 Fun Ford Weekend Season

Memphis International Raceway holds a special place in a lot of racer’s hearts. Located just north of downtown Memphis, this track, like the town, has weathered many storms but always seems to come back stronger and better than before. Thus, MIR was a fitting location for the final Fun Ford Weekend event of 2012.

Presented by Roush Yates, JE Pistons and Joe Gibbs Driven, the Ford, Lincoln and Mercury faithful from all over the mid-south brought their blue oval beauties out for some drag race, car show and autocross fun Sept 28 & 29.

The Fun Ford action kicked off Friday night with “test-n-tune” for Saturday’s Fun Ford racers, along with a little friendly, “Ford vs. the World” drag racing. In the pits, there was live music by Seventh Sundown, a mechanical bull, car show and the night of racing was capped by an awesome full “light and sound show” by not just one, but two jet-powered dragsters, the Jet Train tandem of “Chattanooga Choo Choo” and “Cannonball Express”.

Saturday’s racing action expanded from the drag strip to also include the Gateway Classic Mustang autocross challenge, where both car show and drag race participants could try their hand on navigating the orange cone-lined course. Many spectators took advantage of the guys from Gateway Classic Mustangs and their offer to give rides to spectators who had signed the waivers. Needless to say, there were 100’s of people who got the ride of their lives in the Gateway Classic Mustangs – a track-prepped ’68 and a ’69 fastback powered by a new 5.0L “Coyote” engine.

The Revell Make-n-Take, where kids had the chance to build models of their own Ford hot rod and take it with them was a big hit with those too young to race or drive. Heck, we even saw a few dads and crew chiefs in helping their future Ford owners building their model kits!

The all-FoMoCo car show saw an eclectic collection of all-things Ford powered, including trucks, hot rods, street rods and an outstanding showing of late model Mustangs.

Fun Ford Weekend hits the beach! Palm Beach International Raceway Results

Comments Off on Fun Ford Weekend hits the beach! Palm Beach International Raceway Results

In spite of the fact that Mother Nature tried to rain on our fun, the Fun Ford Weekend event at Palm Beach International Raceway escaped the deluge that was hamming the eastern coast of Florida and enjoyed dry skies for two days of Ford fun at the inland track’s location.

Once again, the weekend was presented by Roush Yates, JE Pistons and Joe Gibbs Driven, but this event also featured the first ever Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords magazine Mustang Triathlon event. These competitors were divided into three different classes: stock, modified and prepared and were challenged to compete in three totally different events.

The three events included an autocross laid out on the northern section of Palm Beach International Raceway road course, followed by an high-speed “speed / stop challenge” and then capped with three, back-to-back-to-back drag racing passes. Drivers raced each event, scoring a “finishing position” similar to the Olympics. After all three events, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place medals were awarded in each class based upon their average finishing position over the course of all three events.

Look for a COMPLETE write up of the Mustang Triathlon event in a future issue of Muscle Mustangs & Fasts Fords magazine.

Meanwhile, Ford racers from all across the SE US were slugging it out on drag strip, while the all-FoMoCo car show was surrounded by more than 50 midway vendors and manufacturers, with a swap meet offered up a wide assortment of used go-fast parts from local vendors and racers.

Fans Who Donate Canned Goods or Dry Pet Food will Receive $5 Off Adult Admission

ENNIS, Texas (Aug. 28, 2012) – What does Texas Motorplex, home of championship drag racing since 1986, have in common with Meals on Wheels of Johnson and Ellis Counties? Awesome people.

For the second consecutive year, the Motorplex is partnering up with Meals on Wheels to help homebound seniors receive daily nutrition, invaluable visits and kindness from the community.

New this year? Helping pets too! Many homebound seniors rely on the companionship of their pets and Meals on Wheels makes every effort to provide pet food for their senior clients as well.

Fans attending the Sept. 8 Fun Ford Weekend will get $5 off adult admission if they bring a canned good item for Meals on Wheels OR dry cat food or small bites dog food.

Fun Ford Weekend is a celebration of everything Ford – racing, car shows, live music, great food and plenty of Ford merchandise to choose from. Fans of one of the most beloved automotive brands in American history provided more than 500 canned good items in 2011, helping hundreds of homebound seniors in the community.

“We are excited to partner with Texas Motorplex during the Fun Ford Weekend for the second year,” Meals on Wheels’ Lisa Hicks said. “The community makes it possible for us to come together and help meet the needs of their homebound neighbors by providing canned food or pet food for their companion pets. And they get to enjoy a day of fun at the Motorplex!

“We invite everyone to come by and meet some of our staff and volunteers at the front gate and we continue to be thankful for the support of the community as we strive to make sure there aren’t seniors without nutritional meals.”
