Officials at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway have announced that five Pacific Street Car Association classes will be included in the April 20-22 Fun Ford Weekend. The following classes will represent PSCA and will earn points that will be counted towards PSCA’s 2012 championship:

Hughes Performance Pro Street
MagnaFuel XDR/TT5
Ross Racing Pistons Outlaw 8.5
Goodyear Racing Open Comp
Ford Racing Mustang Maddness

“The PSCA classes that we are adding are a perfect fit for Fun Ford Weekend” said Chris Blair, Las Vegas Motor Speedway Vice President of Racing Operations. “This will make the show even more exciting for our Ford enthusiasts.”

The event, one week ahead of the next official PSCA race at The Strip April 27-29, will provide racers in the aforementioned classes the opportunity to race as well as save travel money thanks to the cooperation of Blair and his staff.

“By making the Fun Ford Weekend part of the PSCA Series, it will help the Southern California racers who are currently dealing with the loss of their home tracks,” Blair said. “This will enable them to race with us, leave their rigs here at LVMS and return the following weekend for PSCA. This should dramatically reduce travel costs.”

PSCA President Mel Roth said the event is a welcome addition to the schedule, especially with the races at Auto Club Dragway in Fontana, Calif., currently in limbo. “Racers race. It’s that simple and we can’t thank Chris Blair and Las Vegas Motor Speedway enough for their generosity. The folks there understand this sport and they know how important it is to our racers and the fans. PSCA will get to be a part of a unique event and fans of the Ford Fun Weekend will get to see some of our top drivers in action. It’s a win-win.”

Fans of the Pacific Street Car Association can find updates and photos of PSCA racers and events by checking out PSCARacing.com. Videos of PSCA drag racing action can be found at YouTube.com/PSCARacing.

Introducing the Gateway Classic Mustang Autocross Challenge

Kansas City, Mo., March 14, 2012 - Fun Ford Weekend Series officials welcome Gateway Classic Mustangs to the series as the title sponsor of the autocross event at the season-opening event at Royal Purple Raceway, March 23 – 24 in Baytown, Texas.

“It’s great to have Gateway Classic Mustangs join us as title sponsor for the all-Ford autocross that will be a part of our first Fun Ford Weekend event of the year,” said Jeff Lacina, Marketing Director for the Fun Ford Weekend Series. “Autocrossing is a great way for Ford owners to enjoy their vehicles in a driving activity that is not only a lot of fun, but can also help make them a better driver out on the street. Gateway Classic Mustangs and their customers have a long history of really tearing it up on the autocross course, so having join us as the autocross sponsor at Royal Purple Raceway will be a lot of fun for everyone.”

“We’re really excited to be a part of the Fun Ford Weekend Series, especially in being the title sponsor of the autocross event at Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown,” said Jason Childress, co-owner of Gateway Classic Mustang. “Racing Mustangs in autocross events – both the vintage, pro-touring and new cars – is very popular…and a lot of fun. If you’ve never tried autocrossing your Mustang or Ford car, the Gateway Classic Mustang Autocross Challenge will be a great place to give it a shot. And of course, we’re also looking forward to seeing all those people who are serious about autocrossing at this event as well.”

What is Autocross?

Autocross is a form of motorsports that emphasizes safe competition, active participation and the ability to compete in just about any four-wheeled car. The event itself is a timed competition where drivers navigate one at a time, or “solo” through a course typically defined by rubber orange traffic cones. The fastest car and driver through the course, without incurring any penalties, is the winner. Autocross differs from road racing or oval racing in that generally there is only one car on the track racing against the clock rather than other cars. As an entry level motorsport, autocross is very affordable because the driver and car can compete – and win – in a completely stock vehicle.

About Gateway Classic Mustang
